GET INVOLVED AND VOLUNTEER

The Allen Village Community Development Corporation is a 501 (c3) non-profit organization formed to help improve the residents in our community which was formed in 2013 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Cynthia D. Jackson. To give a little background we are located in the South Ward of Newark, New Jersey.

Our neighborhood was devastated in the rebellions of 1968 and to date there has been little redevelopment in the area. It is a neighborhood plagued by high crime, functional illiteracy, drug addiction, unemployment and underemployment, the proliferation of liquor stores, transitional housing, and food insecurity. It is our mission to help transform the lives of our residents in a positive and meaningful way

VOLUNTEER INFO

Allen Village CDC Volunteer

The Allen Village established a food pantry which operates on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Saturday of each month as well as provides emergency food assistance as needed. We provide fresh produce, meats, non-perishable foods,  diapers, and feminine hygiene products to individuals and families.

We offer these much-needed food baskets to individuals and families who may run out of resources towards the end of the month and have no where to turn for assistance. In order to access the food pantry, you must have a Government ID, Social Security Card or Proof of Residency.
